It’s taken me a bit longer to get back into the swing of things after the past weekend, but I have a few free moments right now so I figured I would write a quick post. To whet your appetite, here are a few pictures from our little mini-moon that we had in Seattle (just one night away, not nearly enough). Our room at the Pan-Pacific was amazing, and we have vowed we will return there next year before we leave for our honeymoon, and any significant anniversaries as well. They treated us like royalty!
The days leading up to our ceremony were hectic indeed, but I did accomplish everything on the list that we needed to do. That was a great feeling, waking up on our wedding day with nothing to do! Well, we did have one thing we did forget…to get my son an outfit and get his hair cut! Ooops! Saturday morning, my mom ran out to Fred Meyer and the hair salon to take care of that, and brought back a very dapper almost 12-year-old boy.
I do have to say, it’s pretty awesome having a sister who’s a professional hair stylist. My hair looked amazing! Saturday morning she gave me a blowout, and then we headed off for lunch at Panera bread, just the two of us. Mom, Andrew and the kids stayed at home. After lunch, we ran a couple of errands and got some costume jewelry for us to wear, and then went to MAC for our makeup appointments. I wasn’t feeling very bridal at this point to be honest, it pretty much felt like a normal day, but as soon as we got back into the car, and she exclaimed “You’re getting married!!!”, I felt like a bride. We went back home where she immediately started on my hair…here’s a preview look for you after she was backcombing it. Don’t you just love my look?
I don’t want to give too much away, but we had a wonderfully intimate small ceremony with our kids, my mom and sister, and a few close friends. We had 10 adults in attendance, not including the minister and the photographer. I chose a photographer because even though we’re having a proper wedding next year, I still wanted some documentation of this day. Next year we will do the full on wedding, with me in my wedding dress, a reception, etc etc.
After our little ceremony, where I did in fact cry as I said my vows to Andrew, we drove up to Seattle for a night and had ourselves a little mini-moon. We did wish we had more time together as a newly minted husband and wife, but with four kids and a husband who is PCS-ing to Kansas in a month, there just wasn’t time for that. Next year we are planning on taking a proper honeymoon with just us.
I’m still adjusting to being a wife again. The feeling is surreal to be honest, and though our relationship doesn’t feel like it has changed at all, it has in many ways. After being alone for some time, and being a single mom, it’s a bit to get used to. This man is my HUSBAND, the one I will grow old with, and love till my very last breath. I am so incredibly happy and proud being his wife, knowing that hot soldier I went out for lunch with yesterday was not in fact my boyfriend, or fiance, but my husband. He is my best friend. He is a great father already, though he does need to work out some kinks and learn the ropes a bit more , and a great husband, and he treats me like a queen. eHarmony, you did well to match us, and I couldn’t have asked for a better man to spend my life with.
I’m going to take a bit of a break from all things wedding related till later in December when we find out if he is being deployed or not, and then it’s full on wedding planning for July! Once I get the pictures back from the photographer, I will share a few here on the blog.
